Mental Health

When the clock turned to midnight on the 1st of January 2020 as usual I sent messages to friends and family wishing them a very happy new year. Like many other people I was hoping for another fantastic year,  being able to meet new people,  move house and potentially meet someone, then lockdown began.

After a month in Lockdown, I saw an article by the BBC about how people were coping with lockdown and being confined to their houses. There were a couple of people who were finding it particularly tough, one stating that he was an alcoholic and was finding it extremely hard not to drink. At the time I found it easy to judge him, I mean this is a holiday, isn’t it? Why would anyone need to find solace in alcohol abuse?

After three months in lockdown, I began to understand how someone could turn to alcohol, drugs or worse. I consider myself pretty tough when it comes to mental health mainly because I am curious about the future and want to see witness as many people as possible pass their tests.

There is a lot more information available when it comes to mental health and there are support groups which can be found on Facebook and Instagram, however if you are struggling  and  need  a  professional  to  talk  to  you  can  contact  the  Samaritans at www,samaritans.org or call them for free on 116 123
