Can Learner Drivers Go On The Motorway?

Since 2018, learner drivers are legally allowed to drive on the motorway provided that:
– They are accompanied by a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
– The vehicle is fitted with dual controls.
– The instructor believes the learner is competent enough.

Learners cannot drive on the motorway with parents, friends or any supervising driver who is NOT a fully qualified ADI. Motorway driving is only permitted with a qualified instructor in a dual-controlled vehicle.
